Teletrade to Auction Special Collection of PCGS “Green Holder” Coins on Sunday, June 1, 2008
by Ian J Russell on Monday, May 12, 2008

Teletrade, America's largest fully automated Internet auction company for certified coins and currency, will auction “The Green Holder Collection” on Sunday, June 1, 2008, in online Auction #2536. The auction will be live at www.teletrade.com from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. eastern time and will include more than 1,500 certified coin lots. The complete catalog will be viewable on the Teletrade website beginning Friday, May 23. Highlights from “The Green Holder Collection” will be on display at the Long Beach Expo May 29-31 at table 425.

“The Green Holder Collection” is the result of the combined efforts of two California collectors and consists of more than 250 coins in classic PCGS “green holders,” including an interesting selection of first generation “rattlers.” These early generation PCGS holders characterized by their green labels were used throughout the 80s and 90s, dating back to the very first days of PCGS, and are coveted by a large segment of numismatic enthusiasts who appreciate the history of not only the coin but also the holder that encases it.

“It is unusual to see such an impressive hoard of early generation PCGS holders, and many have not been on the market since they were initially acquired by these collectors in the 80s and 90s,” said Ian Russell, president of Teletrade. “The coins tell the history of the country, and these holders speak to the history of coin collecting, which makes this collection even more fascinating and desirable to enthusiasts.”

“The Green Holder Collection” will be auctioned in individual lots. Highlights include:

1804 1/2c PCGS MS-65RB
1881 Cent PCGS MS-67RD
1856 Flying Eagle Cent PCGS MS-63
1909-SVDB Lincoln Cent PCGS MS-65RB

Teletrade® Announces Record-Setting Sale of Large Size "Black Eagle" Note
by Ian J Russell on Tuesday, December 18, 2007

Teletrade® announces the record-setting sale of an 1899 "Black Eagle" $1 Silver Certificate. Bidding on the note advanced to $30,000 during Teletrade®'s December 10 auction, but the note did not meet the reserve. A day after the sale, Teletrade sold the note to a private buyer who was previously unavailable during auction bidding.

Teletrade® is not releasing the final price the buyer paid or the identity of the buyer, but will confirm the sale price was in excess of $30,000. According to Ian Russell, president of Teletrade®, "This note sets records as the highest price paid for a non Serial Number One 'Black Eagle,' and it is the second most expensive for the type."

Teletrade To Auction Finest Known, Pop 1, Black Eagle Note...
by Ian J Russell on Tuesday, December 04, 2007

I am very proud to present our December Currency Auction, which is now posted online, and available for bidding until Monday, December 10, 2007. The auction contains numerous highlights, and is certainly our best auction of certified currency since we started in this area over a year ago.

There are a few notes I need to mention individually, the first being an unbelievable PCGS 69PPQ Fr 230, 1899 $1. This is the finest note of the series graded, in fact of all large size currency, and is absolutely amazing to look at. A pop 1, and surely destined for the finest Registry Set.

Another fresh, high-grade note is Fr. 246, 1891 $2 graded PCGS 68PPQ. This is tied with one other note at 68, with none finer. The $10,000 denomination is represented by a Fr. 1225c graded by PCGS 65EPQ.

As an added benefit to all U.S. bidders, for the whole month of December, we will be offering free shipping for all coin and currency lots.
