S$1 1895 PR 61 PCGS
Nice mint brilliance overall with the reverse appearing slightly higher in grade, while the obverse reveals only a few wispy, grade-defining hairlines at certain light angles. There is a soft blush of tone overall. Though United States Mint records indicate a mintage of 12,000 business strikes of this date, it is an accepted fact that the only 1895-P Morgan Dollars available to today's collectors are survivors of the year's 880-piece proof delivery. These specimens, therefore, are in uncommonly strong demand for proof Silver Dollars of their type, with the added collector pressure coming from numismatists who are assembling date and mint sets of this series.
