G$1 1875 MS 63 PCGS
Choice mint luster with nearly Proof-like fields and a somewhat CAMEO appearance due to moderately frosty devices. Virtually all extant circulation strikes, the present Choice example included, are fully Proof-like in finish. Unlike the proofs, these coins display a small spine (as made) into the obverse field from the base of the chin of Miss Liberty. There are several specks of copper verdigris on the obverse fields and moderate scuffs at the central reverse. This is one of the most desirable issues in the entire U.S. gold series. The reason for the popularity of the 1875 Gold Dollar is the original mintage of 475 coin for this date and all are considered rare and highly desirable. PCGS has certified five coins at this level with just 19 finer.
