Gold Commem. 1922 MS 64 PCGS Grant-Star
Nearly Gem. Well struck. Pleasing yellow-golden surfaces. There were 4,256 coins with star minted. The first minting of this coin included an incuse start in the right obverse field. It was later removed from dies, thus creating a second variety. It is reported that the star has no significant meaning, though it is unlikely that Laura Gardin-Fraser, an artist with extraordinary skills as a sculptor simply inserted the star for no reason. As is typical of this variety die clashing is noted at the chin of Grant.
