Colonial 1723 AU 50 PCGS Hibernia Farthing Dei.Grati
This farthing is from the coin series designed by William Wood under indenture to George I. Wood was authorized to mint 360 tons of half pence and farthings over a period of fourteen years. This type a coin is prized among collectors of American colonial coinage, though according to Mossman (p.134): 'There is no evidence of any substantial colonial circulation for these coppers . . . although it can be reasonably concluded that any current European coins could have ended up in North America, either brought over by the steady stream of immigrants or in the merchant trade.'
