1C 1793 AG 2 BN PCGS Chain Ameri.
This is an extremely important year in the large Cent series. Not only is it the first in which the United States Mint delivered coins of this denomination, but it also witnessed the production of three distinct types. The first of these is the Chain Cent, which was produced to the extent of just 36,103 pieces. As a first-year, one-year type, this issue enjoys unflagging demand among both early Copper specialists and type collectors. As one can perhaps surmise, survivors are rare from a market availability standpoint. Over the past few years the Chain-AMERI. type has been in fanatical demand. PCGS has certified ten coins at this level with 89 finer.
